>     When God called me in the police service in 1983, I didn’t know at that time that He was busy preparing me for something very big. Allow me to introduce the vision God gave me several years ago. While I was stationed in Duiwelskloof in the 90’s I attended a weekly prayer meeting and it was during one of these prayer meetings that God gave me a wonderful idea. The people attending the prayer meeting wanted to do outreach but didn’t know how to go about it. I then suggested that I would ask every complainant when I attend a complaint if we (the prayer group) could visit them afterwards. It then so happened that all the complainants agreed to it. And the result was that they all gave their hearts to Jesus. We also followed them up to make sure they attend one of the local churches of their choice. God spoke to me in 1993 to go back to Johannesburg to work with the chaplains and I was very excited about it and knew that I could make a difference in their lives. It was also in this time that the Christian Police Association started and for many years I served on the National board. I was also involved with a few coffee bars in the single quarters, had my own newsletter: “New Life in Jesus” which I distributed at all the police stations in Johannesburg, organized camps and much more. During this time I saw the big spiritual need amongst police members.

>     In 1996 I attended a “Reach your City” conference in Hatfield, Pretoria. Ed Silvoso from Argentina and John Dawson from USA were the key speakers. While I was listening to them God then gave me the vision of Adopt-A-Cop. That we should pray for our police members every day. First for their salvation, and secondly for protection as we have two third angels on our side!!! In short, I would like to see this vision realize that cell/prayer groups from every church would adopt a specific police member. They must then build a relationship with that member so that when he/she attends a complaint the cell group can then be contacted to help the complainant with trauma debriefing, prayer and support. Just think what impact the local churches would then have in the community. Do you now realize this BIG vision? I resigned from the police service in 2007 so that I can pursue this vision full time. What are you going to do about it as Jesus called us all to be ministers of His Word and to make disciples of all nations? Jesus is coming soon. I don’t want to go empty handed.
